  • Use a fuel filter designed to absorb water on all of your on-site fuel dispensing equipment.
  • Change filters at least two times per year.
  • Paint outdoor aboveground fuel tanks white or silver to reflect the sunlight and reduce condensation.
  • Re-seal all caps and accessories on the top of aboveground tanks with pipe thread compound.
  • Replace broken gauge covers.
  • Keep outdoor above-ground tanks away from rain gutters that could overflow.
  • Keep snow brushed off of outdoor above-ground tanks in the winter to reduce condensation.
  • Keep fill ports of underground tanks above grade to keep water from entering.
  • Use water-finding paste to check tank bottoms for water.
